The East Side (E/S) 59 East Coast Crips are a primarily African-American street gang located on the east side of South Los Angeles, California. This gang originated around 59th Street and 59th Place in the 1980s. Their neighborhood runs from Central Avenue to Compton Blvd, between Gage Avenue and Slauson Avenue with Hooper Avenue being the center point of their turf. Although they are situated in East Los Angeles, an area traditionally dominated by Gangster Crip sets, the 59 East Coast Crips falls under the Neighbor Hood Crips and Deuce (2x) card. Their closest rivals are the 52 Blood Stone Villians and the 52 Pueblo Bishop Bloods. Other rivals include the Be-Bop Watts Bloods, Mad Swan Bloods, the 53 Avalon Gangster Crips and the 52 Broadway Gangster Crips. All factions of the East Coast Crips are currently engaged in a bitter rivalry with the Mexican Mafia backed Florencia 13 due to the on-going race war between South Los Angeles gangs [1]. Their rivalry with the Florencia 13 along with changing demographics has displaced The 59 East Coast Crips, dwindling down their numbers and their territory.
