Chicanos (male)/Chicanas (female)is a politically charged term that means Mexican American. There are many Chicano rappers, such as Kid Frost, Mr. Shadow, Lil Rob, Capone (Chicano rapper), and Conejo. Originally, Chicano rappers were rapping exclusively in English. "La Raza" was the first bilingual (Spanglish) Chicano rap track, followed by many more, typically bilingual tracks, with English as the main language and some Spanish bits here and there. Finally, groups such as Darkroom Familia started producing whole Spanish-language only CDs, with other groups such as Kinto Sol rapping exclusively in Spanish on all of their releases. In terms of naming conventions, early Chicano rappers such as Kid Frost had typically English names, whereas more recent groups and rappers have Spanish names, such as Kinto Sol, Conejo, and Chingon.
