Harlem
- Harlem, Manhattan, New York. Harlem is a part of Manhattan, not an official borough of New York City. Harlem is also known as Purple City. Rappers from Harlem inculde Big L, Mase, Cam'ron, Juelz Santana and Jim Jones.
- Harlem (named for Haarlem, a city in Holland, by the early Dutch settlers there) is a major part of black history. Many influential black artists and intellectuals-- many of whom were women-- came out of the Harlem Renaissance, in the 1920s.
