Staten Island is mentioned frequently in the lyrics of rap artists Wu-Tang Clan, most of whom were born in the borough which they refer to as Shaolin, Shaolin Island, and sometimes Gattin' Island. More recently the hip-hop scene of Staten Island has been growing in giant leaps and bounds. Artists have been popping up left and right. Dan Bangz, Eamon, JoJo PellegrinoMatty Kritikal and Tha 718 KinG are among some of the quickly emerging artists.
