Large Professor

William Paul Mitchell, US MC and producer.

Large Professor worked on Nas's first album producing genius tracks such as "It Ain't Hard To Tell" and "Memory Lane" along with Pete Rock and DJ Premier. He worked heavily with Pete Rock in the early 90's developing his style as one of the top producers in the golden era of hip hop. Large Professor was one member of the group Main Source, whose album "Breaking Atoms" is one of the most respected in hip hop history. Main Source have contributed tracks to movies such as Boyz N Da Hood and White Men Can't Jump. Large Professor went on to release his own album called the LP with hit tracks such as "I Juswannachill" and "Funky 2 Listen 2" which was subsequently followed by the Xtra P Files album. In 2002 he released 1st Class, a diversion from his original boom-bap style which was not as well received by critics or true Large Professor fans as his previous works.
