Trethewey Gangsta Killaz
From Rap Dictionary
The South Side (S/S) Trethewey Gangsta Killaz (aka TGK or the Trethewey Gangster Crips) originated out of the Martha Eaton Way high rises by the TretheWey and Black Creek area in the west end of Toronto, Ontario, Canada roughly in the early 1990's. Known as the Trethewey Gangster Kids in its earliest conception, the TGK were revered as a heavily armed and extremely violent group by the height of their infamy in the late 1990's. This gang was once implicated in the robbery and subsequent murder of a gun-store clerk in Woodbridge, which had catapulted them as a top priority for police at the time [1]. Members of this gang claim "South Side" because of their neighbourhood's geographical location being south of Wilson Avenue, which acts as an unofficial divider between neighbourhoods situated along north/south Jane Street. It was alleged by Authorities that the Trethewey Gangsta Killaz were also known to supply other criminal organizations with firearms around a time when police first discovered the trend of gangs lending guns to individual dealers or lesser established sets for a fee. However, the TGK were dealt a crippling blow after a police round up dubbed "Project Kartoon" was launched in January, 2003 resulting in the subsequent arrest of 50 members, including 2 youths [2]. The raid not only resulted in a cache of weapons being taken off Toronto streets, but also helped quell this gang's expansion for a period of time. The raids had also left the TGK vulnerable, which then rivals at the time, The Gatorz, took full advantage of and moved unto their territory, temporarily displacing them (the 2 gangs would eventually become allies and share the Martha Eaton Way high-rises). The Trethewey Gangsta Killaz are cliqued up with the South Side Falstaff Crips and are friendly towards the South Side Gatorz and the All Crips Gang from Scarlettwood Court. Rivals include the Chalkfarm Bloods, the South Side Connection Bloods gang, The Lanes Crew, Eglinton West Crips and Five Point Generalz.
