Shortly after winning the New Music Seminar Battle For World Supremacy in 1988, he joined the RUN DMC Run's House World Tour. Scratch was befriended by the late RUN DMC's DJ, Jam Master Jay. He and Jay exchanged techniques and Jay liked Scratch's style. When the tour ended Jay recommended Scratch to EPMD
