Mid City Stoners 13
The East Side (E/S) Mid City Stoners 13 are a Southern California Hispanic gang founded in the 1970's. This gang falls under the Sureños banner as indicated with the number "13" in their name which shows allegiance to the Mexican Mafia prison gang. The name of this gang derive from a time in the late 1970s when many of Los Angeles' Hispanic gangs were considered just a bunch of ragged teenagers, mostly influenced by heavy metal. They called themselves "stoners" in reference to rock and the influence of the Rolling Stones rock band. Queen Anne Park is a MCS stronghold, a place where gang members congregate to conduct business. It has a picnic area on high ground that is used by MCS members to oversee the park and lookout for rival gang members. This gang is also believed to have about 140 members in Long Beach where their primary activities are attempted murders, assaults with deadly weapons, auto thefts, and drug trafficking. Rivals of the Mid City Stoners include the Mara Salvatrucha, 18th Street Gang, Varrio 38th Street , Playboys Surenos 13, L.A. Dukes 13, Clanton 14th Street, Crazy Riders 13, Black P. Stones and the Rollin 20s Neighborhood Bloods. They also had past conflicts with the Bounty Hunters Watts, Rollin 20s Long Beach Crips as well as the Insane Crips.
