The 99 Watts Mafia Crips (99WMC) are an active African-American street gang located in the eastern Watts district of South Los Angeles, California. Sometimes referred to as "The 9’ers", this gang was founded in the 1980’s around 99th Street and Success Avenue, between Compton Avenue and Central Avenue.  In August 2012, Authorities believed the 99 Mafia Crips had approximately 100 members.  This gang has an east side ("East Side 99 Watts Mafia Crips") and a west side ("West Side 99 Mafia Crips") set.  The east side set's borders are Century Boulevard to the south, 98th Street to the north, Central Boulevard to the west, and Success Avenue to the east in East Los Angeles.  The West Side 99 Mafia Crips are concentrated around 99th street and Budlong Avenue in West Los Angeles. Both sets are considered their own independent and seperate gangs which is evident with violent flareups between the two occuring from time to time [1]. Members of both gangs are known to sport yellow or gold apparel along with the traditional blue color associated with the Crips. The East Side 99 Watts Mafia Crips falls under the "Mafia Crips" umbrella and have a strong alliance with other gangs under the same banner such as the Fudge Town Mafia Crips, Mac Mafia Crips, Blue Gate Mafia Crips and the Main Street Mafia Crips. Other allies include the Compton Avenue Crips, Watts Franklin Square Crips, Nut Hood Watts Crips as well as the PJ Watts Crips. Their most intense rivalry is with the Hat Gang Watts Crips. Other Crip rivals include the Grape Street Watts Crips and all East Side Hustler Crips. They also rival the Hispanic Krazy Town Mexicans 13. The West Side 99 Mafia Crips rival the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, the Rollin 90s Neighborhood Crips, the Rollin 100s Crips as well as the Eight Tray Gangster Crips. Both the West Side 99 Mafia Crips and the East Side 99 Watts Mafia Crips are naturally hostile towards all Blood gangs. Some known rivals include the Bounty Hunters Watts, Circle City Piru, the Be-Bop Watts Bloods and the Inglewood Family Gang. Although bitter rivals, the West Side 99 Mafia Crips along with the Inglewood Family Gang and the "Far West Side" faction of the Eight Tray Gangster Crips are currently involved in an unofficial ceasefire to take on both the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips and the Rollin 90s Neighborhood Crips. The West Side 99 Mafias are also friendly towards all Hoover Criminals. Hispanic rivals include the South Side Locos 13.
