Stones Jungles first emerged in California in 1969 and operated in the West Adams area near Crenshaw Blvd. Their territory is located in the "Crenshaw district" and resides in the once exclusive Baldwin Village apartment complex, behind the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (Crenshaw Mall) between Crenshaw Blvd. and La Brea Blvd. Over the years the P. Stones grew into one of the larger gangs in South Los Angeles. There are an estimated 700 members of the Black P. Stones, 400 of whom live in Baldwin Village. The Jungles have no clique and everyone from that neighborhood is known as "Jungle Stones". Prior to the Jungles becoming BPS there was a gang in the area known as "Green Jackets" during the very early 1970s. The P.Stone Jungles were responsible for starting the conflict between the 18th Street Gang and various Blood gangs in 1994. The Black P. Stone City Side Bloods would later join the conflict, followed by the Rollin 20s Neighborhood Bloods by 1996. More recently the Fruit Town Brims became the 4th Blood gang to join the conflict against the 18th Street Gang. Other rivals include the Rollin 30s Harlem Crips, Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips, the West Boulevard Crips and the School Yard Crips.
